Plantar Fasciitis is an acute form of inflammation found in the ligament-type tissue stretching across the bottom of the foot. This may lead to heel spurs and or other severe conditions.
The most common cause of plantar fasciitis relates to faulty structure of the foot. For example, people who have problems with their arches, either overly flat feet or high-arched feet, are more prone to developing plantar fasciitis. Wearing non supportive footwear on hard, flat surfaces puts abnormal strain on the plantar fascia and can also lead to plantar fasciitis. This is particularly evident when one's job requires long hours on the feet. Obesity and overuse may also contribute to this condition.
Dr. Savran can evaluate the cause of your heel pain and recommend a customized treatment plan which may include physical therapy, injections and fabrication of custom orthotics.
What are custom orthotics?
Custom orthotics are devices designed to comfort, support and balance your foot. Prescription orthotics are custom made to fit your feet. They are made from a cast of the contours of your feet and are fabricated to meet your individual level of activity.
Custom orthotics are made to treat many conditions including heel bursitis, plantar fasciitis, and tendonitis . Custom orthotics help alleviate lower back pain and knee pain by keeping your feet in proper alignment and balance.
